THICKER THAN WATER
16 years ago the ATF raided a cult compound packed with the teenage followers of Mordecai Young. A fire broke out that consumed the entire place, and while officers watched in horror, expecting kids to come running out of the burning building, none did.
There were no survivors.
That was the story fed to the press, at least. But there were survivors, and Mordecai, the brilliantly gifted, mentally ill cult leader, was one of them.
So was the baby he’d fathered with one of his teenage followers. Another girl had taken baby Sunny out through the escape tunnel. She’d stepped right over Mordecai on her way, leaving him trapped in the rubble to die.
Sixteen years later, Julie Jones is a successful Syracuse news anchor with a teenage daughter who looks nothing like her and her nice life is in jeopardy. She’s been paired with a new co-anchor, an ex-shock-jock looking to uncover her secrets. But, she has no time to deal with him because Mordecai Young has found her and he wants his daughter back.
